Tribute To Rising Star In The Indian American Community- Kash Patel I am very proud of Kash Patel who was just sworn in as the Director of the FBI. It is such an honor that President Trump has bestowed on him and on us as a community, a sign of his trust in the achievements of an Indian American. Our community keeps proving its love for our adopted country by the service that our younger generation con- tinues to perform for this nation, whether it is a Republi- can or Democratic administration. It was especially gratifying to see that Kash Patel pledged on the Bhagavad Gita to serve his country when he was being sworn-in. He embodies the cultures of India and America, and his ancestry being from Gujarat, makes me even more proud that he has reached such heights. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is an agency that was set up in 1908 and got its current name in 1935, and it has been among the most important agencies of gov- ernment. We need a strong person like Kash Patel to run it, a man who withstood all the grilling during the Senate hearings, and managed to unite Republicans to vote him into office. President Trump is right when he described Kash as a “tough, strong” person. Like Senator Chuck Grassley said, “Mr. Patel’s the right man at the right time. His career has been a study in fighting for unpopular but righteous causes, exposing corruption and putting America first.” Kash Patel’s journey to becoming Director of FBI is beyond compare. He has served as a public defender; And under President Obama, he was a counterterrorism prosecutor; and he worked as a staffer on Capitol Hill. As Senator Grassley noted when hearings were being conducted in the Senate, Kash Patel was Senior Director of Counterterrorism at the National Security Council, Deputy Director of National Intelligence and Chief of Staff to the Acting Secretary of Defense, and, he fought for transparency in government. So many individuals in law enforcement have en- dorsed his appointment, including former and current FBI agents as well as state attorneys general and US at- torneys. Kash Patel is going to be a breath of fresh air for an agency which has been set in its ways and which, according to President Trump, needs change. Dr. Sudhir M. Protecting the health, welfare and safety of citizens of this wonderful nation is a matter of great pride and honor. This is a true occasion to rejoice, and also thank you for what you can do to further the mission of FBI and President Trump’s vision of how to do it and move on. At your hearing in congress in our true Hindu tradition and heritage you touched feet of your parents with bless- ings in this god-given opportunity, and said “ Jai Shree Krishna” - reflecting that wonderful inner spirit to follow “Equanimity and oneness” in your action. In your right hand it was obvious that you had worn “Rakhi “ a symbol of true love of brother and sister - a sisters love for your health and inner spirit. A true family man following our true ancient culture of heritage . You also took oath on our sacred book Gita furthering the promise that you will follow ultimate reality of good and respectful actions. Uttering the words ‘Jai Shree Krishna’ reminded me of Lord Krishna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra - the ancient battlefield of truth and righteousness. You are with your position be involved in a different battlefield modern but principles remains the same . Follow “Truth, righteousness and respectful act for society’s benefit and inner bliss” Your act as FBI Chief reminds me of the wisdom of Lord Krishna’s sermon to Arjun in the battlefield. In the dust and thunder of Kurukshetra, where destiny itself hung in the balance, Lord Krishna spoke words that have deeper meaning even now and are still piercing through time’s veil. “The present moment is your most powerful weapon.” Past is gone - desires to act on past will and can bring anger and further desires with further angers in a cycle which will never end. The future is uncertain - distant horizon whose end cannot be seen as silver or dark cloud. So use this great respectful moment and bring righteous change. The battles of ideology and who can bring “Parivartan “ is a challenge for President Trump, Vice President Vance, Kash Patel and others. So let us focus on avoiding the temptation of revenge for past right or perceived wrongs as this will lead to more desires, anger and will go on non stop. Do corrective actions , bring pride in men and women of FBI and bring infinite happiness to all. A true leader moves on future eliminating non essen- tials, and brings reforms and performs respectful acts for the present. This is our battle of the righteous path - “Svadharma“. Focus on the present as a good warrior, and win the battle of truth and righteousness- not revenge but respect for presence. Avoid transitional battles and use the sacred trust of your office and transcend what Lord Krishna tells mighty Arjun. “Karmanye vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana, Ma Kar- maphalaheturbhurma Te Sangostvakarmani.” Meaning: You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled or anticipating the fruits of your actions. Congratulations and best wishes.
